Welcome to the Young Violists Competition page! Here you will find information about the forthcoming competitions organised by the Société française de l'alto.

In 2024, the organization Les Amis de l'alto merged with the Société française de l'alto with the aim of bringing together and supporting the projects of all viola players in France.

The National Competition for young Violists, founded by Les Amis de l'alto over 40 years ago, has been supported by generations of violists! The National Competition for Very Young Violists has also been a great success since its creation in 2018. In 2025, these two competitions will come together under a new name: the Competition for Young Violists! The competition is open to students in their 2nd year of undergraduate studies.

The Young Violists Competition 2025 will take place from Thursday, November 27 to Saturday, November 29 at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole (Cité des Arts)! The Bachelor Category will be open to European Countries (UK and Switzerland included). All the other categories are open to France only.
